Bolt and nut style

Chevy Small Block 3/8" Bolt 50 ft. pounds or .0060" - .0067 Bolt Stretch

Chevy Big Block 7/16" Bolt 75 ft. pounds or .0078" - .0082 Bolt Stretch

Ford Small Block 3/8" Bolt 50 ft. pounds or .0060" - .0067 Bolt Stretch

 

Cap Screw ( threads in the rod )

Chevy Small Block 3/8" Bolt 40 ft. pounds

Chevy Big Block 7/16" Bolt 63 ft. pounds or .0059" - .0063 Bolt Stretch

Ford Small Block 3/8" Bolt 40 ft. pounds

 

 

Torque the rods

Rod bolt threads and underside of the nut should be lubricated with ARP Moly Assembly lube. Do not use oil or loctite. Cap should be seated on rod by aligning cap by hand and tapping in place. Alternatively tighten nuts to avoid cocking of the cap. ARP recommends that the rod bolts be tightened and lessened four additional times prior to assembly.
